CoHNA Condemns Shocking Attempt to Assassinate Former President Trump
July 14, 2024: Like all other Americans, the Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) is deeply horrified and shocked by the attack on former President Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania. We strongly condemn this horrific violence and are glad to know President Trump is safe and pray for his complete recovery. We are saddened by the human toll which saw the death of an innocent attendee Corey Comperatore. We pray for peace for his Atma. And for all others injured, to make a swift recovery.
Yesterday’s events are an attack on our shared values of peace and democracy and the American political process itself. As Americans and American Hindus, we firmly stand against hate and violence and the attack on the democratic traditions of our nation.
We conclude with an ancient verse from the sacred Vedas:
Om Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah
Sarve Santu Niraamayaah |
Sarve Bhadraanni Pashyantu Maa
Kashcid-Duhkha-Bhaag-Bhavet |
Om Shaantih Shaantih Shaantih ||
May all be prosperous and happy, may all be free from illness
May all see what is spiritually uplifting, may no one suffer
Om peace, peace, peace!
