CoHNA Congratulates Kash Patel on his Landmark Appointment as FBI Director

Patel’s confirmation will inspire a new generation of American Hindus to pursue careers and leadership positions in law enforcement and national security

Washington, D.C., February 21, 2025:  The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) congratulates Kash Patel on becoming the first Hindu American to lead the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a milestone for Hindu representation in US national security. He was sworn in today  as the ninth Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) on Friday, taking the oath on the sacred Bhagavad Gita.

Patel’s career spans key roles in the Department of Defense, the National Security Council, and the intelligence community. His leadership has helped shape critical efforts to protect the United States.

Nikunj Trivedi, President of CoHNA, praised Patel’s appointment, stating: “At his January 30 confirmation hearing, when he touched his parents’ feet and greeted them with ‘Jai Shri Krishna.,’ Today he took his oath of office using the Bhagwad Gita. Director Patel has shown the world that he is unapologetic about his Hindu faith and culture. These are defining moments for Hindus across America, reflecting the values we cherish and hope to pass down through generations.”

Patel’s appointment comes on the heels of Tulsi Gabbard taking office as the Director of National Intelligence, marking another historic first. CoHNA recognizes the potency of this moment where American Hindus are breaking new ground in national security. These appointments will motivate a new generation of Hindus growing up in America, to actively pursue careers in law enforcement, defence and security, and public service—fields where their presence is currently limited.

As Patel begins his tenure at the FBI, we wish him the very best. May the wisdom of the Bhagavad Gita and the guidance of our Rishis illuminate his path.
