CoHNA Congratulates Prime Minister Mark Carney on Electoral Victory

Canadian Hindus call for a focus on combating growing anti-Hindu hate in the new term

Ottawa, April 29, 2025: The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) congratulates Prime Minister Mark Carney and the Liberal Party on their victory in the Canadian federal elections. We commend all Canadians who participated in the democratic process and reaffirm our hope for a future of safety, unity, and prosperity for all.

As Canada moves forward under Prime Minister Carney’s leadership, CoHNA respectfully urges the federal government to prioritize the safety of all communities, including Canadian Hindus. In recent years, we have witnessed a disturbing rise in anti-Hindu hate in Canada: Hindus have been murdered in their homes; Hindu-led businesses have come under attack; and Hindu temples have been vandalised and desecrated most often by Khalistani extremists—with law enforcement often failing to intervene effectively or hold the perpetrators accountable.

We call upon the Prime Minister Carney and his government to:

  • Take decisive action against rising Hinduphobia, hate crimes, and propaganda from Khalistani extremists who spread anti-Hindu hate under the guise of ‘free speech.’
  • Strengthen protections for Hindu temples and institutions.
  • Engage directly with Canadian Hindu organizations to address concerns and foster an environment of true multiculturalism, where all traditions are respected and protected.

Canada’s strength lies in its diversity, its commitment to human rights, its tradition of religious tolerance, and its firm stand against hate in all forms. CoHNA looks forward to working with the new government to uphold these principles and ensure that Hindus can live in peace and dignity under the Maple Leaf.
