Saturday Night Live – Degrading and Demonizing Hinduism
March 10, 2025: Following the Hinduphobic “Friendly’s” skit aired by Saturday Night Live (SNL) on March 8, 2025, CoHNA and the CoHNA Youth Action Network (CYAN) have sent a letter of complaint to the executive team at NBC. Satire and humor are vital expressions of free speech, but they need to be balanced with a responsibility to avoid perpetuating harmful stereotypes against a minority community. Words on widely watched platforms like these have a traumatic impact. NBC needs to demonstrate greater sensitivity given the rising levels of anti-Hindu hate in US and Canada.
